The new main sawing line represents one of the largest investments in Isojoen Saha’s history, signaling the company’s confident outlook on the future. The celebration marking the completion of the line brought together invited guests. In addition to the inauguration performed by Minister Matias Marttinen, the program included musical performances and tours of the new facility.
Esa Hakamäki, CEO of Isojoen Saha, expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project. The project remained on schedule from the start of construction in May 2024 through to this autumn’s festivities. The newly inaugurated complex replaces the previous line, which had been in service since the late 1990s.
“This investment secures Isojoen Saha’s operations far into the future. It is significant for the entire regional economy and demonstrates our commitment to sustainable development and the vitality of the local area,” Hakamäki states.

A Significant leap in technology
The new main sawing line is housed in a 2,200-square-meter extension. The investment has introduced significant technological upgrades to production.
CEO Esa Hakamäki describes the project as a necessary step for the company’s competitiveness. The new line utilizes advanced automation and measurement technology, enabling more precise utilization of raw materials and reducing waste.
“Product changes that were previously done mechanically can now be handled automatically. Energy efficiency is also at a completely new level compared to the old technology,” Hakamäki noted as the project progressed.
Occupational ergonomics have also improved, as the process can now be monitored and adjusted from a control room without requiring physical presence near the machinery.

Domestic and Local Expertise
The construction project has been a significant employer in the region. During the construction phase, Rakennuspalvelut T. Kiukkonen Oy from Kauhajoki served as the main contractor, while EP-insinöörit Oy was responsible for the design. Numerous other local subcontractors were also involved.
The sawing line itself was delivered by Veisto Oy from South Savo, and the majority of other equipment suppliers are also Finnish.
